Nanichant Inn
Hotel Narrichant or Nanichant Inn as it was sometimes called was built
in 1889 at the base of Nanichant Rock. Narrichant was an Indian name
meaning echo. It included guest rooms upstairs, a large stone fireplace,
grand reception room, and ballroom with a veranda sheltering the front
and sides of the hotel. Local produce was sold there to support the
surrounding ranches. The hotel’s Concord Stagecoach, pulled by four
horses and accompanied by a bugler traveled to Greenland and Larkspur daily
to pick up guests. The building was destroyed by fire in the 1920’s.
